Saint Nicholas in Legos
In one often told story of Saint Nicholas, Nicholas helped a poor family out of a very desperate situation. When his parents died, Nicholas was left a great sum of money. Nicholas was a good and holy man who wanted to use this money to help others.
There was a very poor man living nearby. In fact, he was so poor that it looked as if his three daughters would never marry…
…for in those days, girls could not marry unless they had enough money for a dowry. 
Saint Nicholas decided to help this family under cover of darkness.
He approached the house at night,
tossing gold coins through a window.
Some stories say that the gold coins landed in the girls’ shoes that were warming by the fire… 
…and this started the tradition of leaving one’s shoes out for the Feast of Saint Nicholas!
