Saints Peter and Paul coloring page: June 29th
Peter was an apostle of Jesus Christ and the first pope of the Church. After Christ’s death and ascension, Peter preached the Gospel to the Gentiles and performed miracles in the name of the God. Eventually, Peter was imprisoned and sentenced to death. He died in Rome, where he was crucified upside down because he declared himself not worthy to die in the same way as Christ. Peter is often depicted holding keys, which symbolize the keys to the kingdom of Heaven.
Peter shares his feast day with St. Paul. Paul was a staunch Jew who persecuted Christians. He converted one day while on the road to Damascus. After his conversion, he became a missionary and took the Gospel to Asia Minor. He made several missionary journeys and spent several years in prison. Like St. Peter, Paul died in Rome. Though the Bible has no record of his death, tradition tells us he was beheaded.
