Heart Napkin Fold- Saint Valentine’s Day
We designed these pretty napkins- with center crosses and hidden Bible verses- to decorate the table on St. Valentine’s Day.
Follow the step-by-step instructions below to create these hearts, then use the templates here to print the gold crosses and Bible verses to finish the project.
The red napkin below is a 13 inch (unfolded size) paper napkin, but a cloth napkin folds nicely, too. The purple heart shown above is a cloth napkin.
First, spread the napkin out flat and turn it so that one edge is pointing at you (as in a diamond shape).
Pull the point closest to you up to the top of the napkin to fold the napkin in half. You should now have a triangle shape.
Next, take the right side of the triangle and fold in so that the tip of the right side meets the point at the top of the triangle…
…now, fold the left side of the triangle in to the center. You should have a smaller diamond now.
Then, the top of each side that you just folded in, will be folded underneath. When you fold the tops of both halves under, you should be left with an exposed square section at the top of your diamond.

…here, a closer look at what that fold should look like…
Flip the napkin over…
Then, fold back what was the top of the diamond to below the pointed tops of the two sides.
Flip the napkin back over. What was the top of the diamond should no longer be visible between the tops of the two sides. Now, begin to fold in the tops and sides into a heart shape until you get something like…
…this.
You can see that we folded in the tops and edges of the heart until we got a more rounded shape.
Print the crosses and Bible verses, using the templates provided. The cross template includes 4 gold crosses and the Bible verse template has 8 different verses. We have also included a template for a page of blank notes if you prefer to print this but choose your own verses to write out.
We cut out the crosses and taped a Bible verse to the back of each cross. Then, we slipped the Bible verse inside the napkin so that just the cross shows from the outside.
Finally, place a finished napkin in the center of each plate.
Happy St. Valentine’s Day!
