Saint Emma coloring page: June 27th
Emma was born in the 10th century to a noble family in what is now Slovenia. She was brought up in the court of Henry II and his wife, who are now both canonized saints. When she was old enough, Emma entered into a marriage with a count. The couple had two sons. However, Emma lost both her sons, who were killed. Sadly, her husband died shortly after while returning from a pilgrimage to Rome. After her husband’s death, Emma gave her life completely to God. She used her inheritance to assist the poor, as well as found churches and monasteries across Austria. Emma died in 1045 and was buried in Gurk Abbey, which she founded. Years later, her grave was moved to Gurk Cathedral, in Austria, and is still there today.
