Visitation coloring page
The Visitation was a feast in the Church by the 14th century. This feast celebrated the great event in which Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth just after the Annunciation. At this time, Mary is pregnant with Jesus and Elizabeth is pregnant with John the Baptist. The Bible says that John leaped in Elizabeth’s womb at this presence of Christ and divine grace. In a similar way, Elizabeth acknowledged both the presence of the Messiah and the role Mary played in salvation, declaring her “Blessed among women.” Tradition tells us that Mary stayed with Elizabeth for three months. Some even say she was present for the birth of John.
The Visitation is the second Joyful Mystery of the Rosary.
